A Guitar Trek Taster

Tim Kain, Minh Le Hoang, Callum Henshaw, Matt Withers

For over 35 years Guitar Trek have been known for their compellingly rich repertoire of music from across the globe, many historical periods and popular traditions. A focus of the group is Australia’s phenomenally inventive contemporary composers. Guitar Trek brings to life the huge variety of colours, textures and acoustic effects available to the group with the guitar family.

“The trick is to have such perfect ensemble and dynamic control that the quartet sounds like ‘one’ guitar – exactly what this ensemble does. Everything’s so enjoyably played.”
Fine Music 102.5FM, Sydney on ABC Classics’ Serene Nights

Today’s program will showcase Guitar Trek’s range of classical, popular, Spanish, South American and contemporary Australian works. A versatile range of guitars are used, including the treble, baritone and bass guitar from the ‘guitar family’ as well as more exotic sounds from the dobro and 12-string guitars.
